Nominations: 2016 BAFTA Awards

Carol

Bridge of Spies and Carol lead the 2016 BAFTA nominations, with nine votes a piece, as Joy is shut out completely.

Mad Max: Fury Road has emerged as a huge contender this awards season, and its six nominations here will only bolster its credibility. Meanwhile SpotlightThe Revenant and The Big Short fill the nominations with the big two for the top prize, and documentary Amy earns itself a spot in the Outstanding British Film category.

It was also a big day for Alicia Vikander, who was nominated for both leading actress (The Danish Girl) and supporting actress (Ex Machina) while co-star Eddie Redmayne also earned himself a nod for leading actor, as him and Leo DiCaprio race towards the Oscars.

The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 14 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD, preceded by a red carpet show on BBC Three.
